About the work
Profile with foliage, multi-coloured line (signed and dated 1960) is a Coloured crayon and graphite on paper — black, orange, blue, yellow and green line work by Jean Cocteau, a drawing, created in 1960.
Jean Cocteau (1889–1963) — poet, filmmaker, dramatist and artist — turned to ceramics late in life, working between 1957 and 1963 at the Atelier Madeline-Jolly in Villefranche-sur-Mer on the Côte d'Azur. His editioned pieces are catalogued by Annie Guédras under 'A.G.' numbers.
As an editioned work, it offers a documented example of Jean Cocteau's practice — the same sensibility that defines the larger body of work, issued in a form built for close looking.
