Vase with deer 'Biches' (D.943) is a Glazed earthenware, Boch Frères Keramis work by Charles Catteau, referenced D. 943, created in c. 1924. It measures 27 cm.

Catteau drew on Egyptian, African and naturalist sources — leaping deer, gazelles, birds and geometric friezes — rendered in the crackle-glazed grès Keramis for which the La Louvière factory became celebrated across Europe in the interwar years.

The piece reflects the qualities that make Charles Catteau's ceramics sought after today: a distinctive decorative vocabulary, secure documentation, and the marriage of a recognised artistic hand with the ceramic medium.
